While we love everything Boston has to offer, we wanted to highlight our own neighborhood, the South End, in this week's blog. Below you'll find fun activities to do with family, friends, pets, and strangers – all in the neighborhood. Whether you want to try some new food, slide into home plate, or make a spectacular new home purchase, have we got the information for you! If you don't already, we hope you grow to love the South End just as much as we do

SoWa Boston

Since its inauguration in 2004, the formerly known South End Open Market has long been a favorite of the urban and suburban alike. Located in SoWa (that's South of Washington for you newbies), this open-air market has beckoned artists, retailers, restaurateurs, (and so many more!) for its creative and innovative atmosphere. Now located at 375 Harrison Avenue (Ink Block), the market runs from 10am – 4pm every Sunday, with Saturday hours being added in June. So, whether you need your knives sharpened, a brilliant piece of artwork, or just want to try out that hot, new food truck, get yourself down to SoWa Boston.

South End Baseball

This decades old, non-profit youth baseball organization serves the communities of not only the South End, but also Roxbury, Dorchester, and Chinatown. Any child aged 4-18 is eligible to participate, with no regard to ability to play or financial means – there is never a fee to play. Staffed solely by volunteers, South End Baseball is a great way to give back to the community as a coach, parent volunteer, or general volunteer for their various events. This year's Opening Day is scheduled for Peters Park, this Saturday, May 7th . Not just for the athletes and their families, this is a great family event. Some of the fun activities include pony rides, face-painting, and a bouncy house – not to mention all those hot dogs! Visit www.southendbaseball.com to volunteer, donate, or join!
